Content Curation tools

I want to collect content!

Hi everyone! Today's post is about choosing a content curation tool. Have you ever heard of this term? No problem, I'm giving a hand to this 😊.

Content curation consists of collecting content and sharing it with a specific audience in different formats

Our teacher Franciso has shared with us five different tools. Let's analyze them!

Pinterest

I think this is the most popular one - I use it every day, not only as a teacher. I really like this app since it enables collecting posts in an easy -and visual- way.
Every post is represented as a Pin, which is an image that is searched and saved by the users.
Pinterest is one of the greatest sources for Arts&Crafts activities! My Finnish teacher, Hansu, highly recommended me this tool. If a Finnish teacher recommends it, I couldn't add something more 😉.

Symbaloo is focused on gathering your favorite websites in a well-organized way (very visual).  I've never heard of it until now. However, I consider it a great idea to collect all the amazing websites for your class.
Students can feel quite overwhelmed when it comes to search great educative websites. Therefore, this tool enables you to organize those websites much better.
Pearltrees allows users to gather items or links. It is pretty similar to Symbaloo, but enables you to collect more than websites.
It's a pity that additional features are not free, so you should try it out before pursaching anything.
As its name indicates, it consists of making lists. I'm a bigger fan of listing - I do it all the time! At first sight, I thought it was just like a mobile app. However, this tool enables you to create detailed lists about whatever you would like!

I think this app could be very useful for beginner users since making lists is quite easy, right?

Final decision

I know what you're thinking... "Ok, Patri... Stop detailing these tools, and tell us your choice!"
As you can imagine, I go for Pinterest - I know, nothing surprising at all 😜.

I've been using this app for a while, so creating a board with multiple Pins it's very familiar to me.
In addition, I'm a very visual person, so this app allows me to organize my ideas in a very visual way.

Are you ready to check what my board will be about?

Music lesson has come! 🎶

As I told you from the very beginning, I'm a Music teacher too! I feel so lucky because I can teach music to my class through CLIL.
I know Music subject is not the most valued one, and sometimes find resources can be quite difficult.

In addition, I want to briefly explain how Music subject works in Spanish education. First of all, contents are not divided into levels, each teacher has to organize themselves to properly plan their classes. Furthermore, the main contents consist of: knowing the different instruments in relation to their families, getting familiarized with some renowned musicians, and being able to play an instrument within their class group.

Therefore, I've been collecting multiple resources on this board that can help to organize your music lesson a bit better:
  • Knowing the instruments and their families is quite difficult, especially if you cannot bring them all to class (that happens to me 😞). I have collected multiple flashcards and worksheets which can help your students a lot.
  • Culture implies a lot in CLIL, so I have been looking for specific musicians to connect cultures with them. In addition, there are templates regarding different musicians and music periods.

I will add more content as long as I try them out in my class. I will definitely keep you updated!
Last but not least, that board will be embedded in the blog - in the left upper part! So can check it out whenever you want to 😃.
