Let's make a CLIL lesson 👩‍🏫

What is copyright about?

Hi everyone! Have you ever felt so overwhelmed when it comes to creating your own materials? Just google "image" and ... Wow! Millions and millions of pictures emerge.
However, not all that glitters is gold. We need to be conscious of using content that has made by others.

Creative Commons licensing is the key! We are able to define our work and how it can be used by others.

All creative commons licenses allow us to use the content, by giving credit to the author(s). Furthermore, public domain resources can be also used without any restrictions.

As you can check in my blog, in the left-upper part, my blog has already got a licence.      👉

It is quite easy to configure it - just adding a widget in your blog's design.

Now we're quite familiar with these licenses, it's time to create a CLIL lesson plan 😃😄.

Arts & crafts time!

Hello 5th graders! How are you feeling today? We're visiting a great place... Are you ready?

Oh no, you're missing your passport! We need our passports to travel to the UK... Let me see if I can figure it out...

Today we're so lucky, we can go to LONDON! Are you excited?

Have you ever been there? It's the British Museum

Specifically, we're visiting the Arts exhibition.

Why are we going to do that? (...) Exactly! Because we're designing our art exhibition in our class! First of all, we need to take a look at the following pictures.

Are you ready? 😜

What's it all about?

These pictures would help students to break down the wall between the class and real life. This pandemic situation makes school trips more difficult to make, but we have the internet!

This would be the starting point to start a project regarding Arts & Crafts and Social Science: Pupils will have to research about different painters and they will have to recreate the painting as in the museums (biographical information, audioguide, and so on) in our class.

As it can be checked, all the pictures have been cited and attributed (we already know how to do it!).

They have been chosen because they are real and meaningful - they are the basis of the whole project. I think sometimes teachers can get a bit crazy when it comes to creating templates or materials like that, but what can be more meaningful than a real painting?

I hope you find this entry useful for your class and do not hesitate to try it out! I will be so excited to check your experience. I've already created a virtual museum with my students and it has been a unique and fantastic experience 😄.

See you pretty soon, take care! 💛
